Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi moving to England after Trump’s election win: ‘Never’ coming back
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have packed up and moved to the UK following Donald Trump’s election win earlier this month, according to a report.
The comedian, 66, and the “Arrested Development” alum, 51, are gearing up to put their sprawling Montecito, Calif., mansion on the market in a bid to start afresh abroad, sources told The Wrap.
The couple, who wed in 2008, will likely “never” return to the US on a permanent basis, the insider adds.
Separate sources told TMZ that the duo decided to “get the hell out” of the country immediately following the President-elect’s victory over Kamala Harris, which left them feeling “very disillusioned.”
The former talk show host was vocal about her support of Harris — and even reportedly donated $3,300 to the vice president’s campaign.
In August, DeGeneres publicly endorsed Harris on Instagram.
“There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president,” she captioned her post.
DeGeneres, who reportedly boasts an eye-popping $370 million net worth, has had an extensive property portfolio over the years.
Her most recent home purchase was in Montecito, which she and de Rossi snapped up in 2019 for $27 million. The duo lived next door to their close pals Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The couple are now reportedly living in the Cotswolds in South West England — nearly two hours from London.
The Post has reached out to reps for DeGeneres and de Rossi for comment.
It’s no surprise that it costs a pretty penny to live in the area. The pair will boast a slew of celebrity neighbors, including David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, and Jeremy Clarkson.
The area is also home to royalty, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
And it seems that the “Finding Nemo” star and her wife have already settled into their new life in the UK.
Last week, the duo were spotted visiting Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, located in the area.
In a clip shared by the former “Top Gear” host’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan on Instagram, the couple were seen sipping on drinks as they enjoyed some live music at the rustic pub.
DeGeneres is the second high-profile celebrity to flee the US following Trump’s win.
Last week, Eva Longoria said she and her family have swapped “dystopian” US for a brighter life in Mexico and Spain.
“I had my whole adult life here,” the “Desperate Housewives” alum told Marie Claire. “But even before [the pandemic], it was changing. The vibe was different. And then COVID happened, and it pushed it over the edge.”

“Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s–t on California — it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now,” she added.
While the homelessness and taxes happened in California under the rule of Democrats, the 49-year-old actress conversely said Trump’s win was also a reason to leave.
“The shocking part is not that he won,” said Longoria, who spent the summer volunteering to rally voters for Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz. “It’s that a convicted criminal who spews so much hate could hold the highest office.”
“If he keeps his promises, it’s going to be a scary place,” she said, recalling how depressed she felt following Trump’s 2016 win.
