George Pickens fights Browns’ Greg Newsome in wild scrap to close out Steelers’ ‘TNF’ loss

George Pickens appeared to get into a shoving match with a Browns defensive back just as the final whistle sounded in Cleveland’s home 24-19 win over the Steelers on “Thursday Night Football.”

The Prime Video broadcast caught the tail end of the scuffle as Pickens was being held back by what appeared to be stadium personnel after he shoved Browns corner Greg Newsome II behind the end zone and near the stands.

Pickens then could be seen with his arm around Newsome, and then the pair scuffled as they moved toward the seats.

All of this occurred as Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson heaved an unsuccessful last-second Hail Mary toward the end zone with Pittsburgh down 24-19 and just six seconds left on the clock.

As the two teams shook hands after the loss, Pickens and Newsome could still be seen going at it right near the stands.

When the camera returned to the scene, Pickens was being restrained and Newsom was getting up from the ground and walking away with an official beside him.

Steelers receiver Mike Williams also walked into the frame and seemingly tried to calm the situation down.

“There you got Pickens upset about something,” broadcaster Al Michaels said somewhat dismissively on the air.

After the game, Newsome posted on X: “Fake tough guy” with three laughing emojis, an apparent shot at Pickens.

The Browns upset the AFC North-leading Steelers thanks to a Nick Chubb touchdown run in the final minute as heavy snow fell in Cleveland with just 57 seconds left in the game.

Cleveland let a 12-point lead disappear in the fourth quarter and was trailing by one with a little more than three minutes left in the game before regaining the lead for good.

“I don’t really think the Cleveland Browns are a good team at all. I think the conditions kind of saved them today,” Pickens told reporters in the locker room.

The Browns, however, remain in the AFC North basement with a 3-8 record on the year.
